WNBA Sunday Night Atlanta Dream vs Washington Mystics The Mystics are a step closer to clinching the final playoff spot after beating the New York Liberty Saturday afternoon. Atlanta is already eliminated from playoff contention and if the Mystics beat them and/or the Dallas Wings lose to the Liberty on Sunday they can clinch the 8th playoff spot. Sunday’s game was originally supposed to be played on Aug. 26. However, the Mystics and the Atlanta Dream decided to not play following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Wisconsin police officer. The Mystics did not feel it was right to play, according to ESPN’s Holly Rowe. It led to the rest of the teams expected to play that night to follow suit. There was no league play the following day either. “This is not a strike,” Nneka Ogwumike said in statement from the WNBA players. “This is not a boycott. WNBA Friday Night Connecticut Sun vs Atlanta Dream The Connecticut Sun have qualified for the WNBA playoffs and are locked into the seventh seed for next week's playoffs. The Atlanta Dream, on the other hand, are fighting for their playoff lives. Connecticut plays Atlanta on Friday night with the latter needing to win to stay in contention for the eighth and final playoff berth. The game is at 7 from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The game will not be televised but will be broadcast on Facebook. The Sun (10-11) will play the sixth-seeded Chicago Sky (11-1) in a single-elimination first-round game on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The teams split their two games this season. Connecticut’s starting backcourt of Briann January and Jasmine Thomas were both listed as questionable on the team’s injury report Thursday. WNBA Wednesday Night Chicago Sky vs Atlanta Dream Chicago Sky Preview Chicago Sky lost their last game, which as against Los Angeles Sparks, in which the game ended with a final score of 86-80. In that game, the Sky scored 30 points in the first quarter, 18 in the second, 22 in the third and 10 in the fourth. Cheyenne Parker was the top player as she scored 24 points with 2 assists in the game. Allie Quigley also did her bit as she also registered 22 points with another 2 assists for her side. WNBA Thursday Night New York Liberty vs Atlanta Dream Early on Thursday evening, the action inside the WNBA's bubble at IMG Academy will continue with a matchup between the Atlanta Dream and New York Liberty. This should have been a matchup between two lottery picks, but unfortunately Sabrina Ionescu is out with an ankle injury. Still, Chennedy Carter will be on display, and that is reason enough to tune in. Overall, it's been a rough season for both of these teams. The Liberty have won just twice, in large part due to Ionescu's injury, and sit in last place at 2-14. They way things are going, they have a good chance at getting the No. 1 overall pick for a second year in a row. The Dream haven't been much better, checking in at 4-13, which has them in 11th place. WNBA Tuesday Night Atlanta Dream vs Indiana Fever The Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream face off in their 16th game of the WNBA season inside the bubble at IMG Academy on Tuesday. The Indiana Fever have had a lot of issues inside the bubble and coming into this game they have lost three games in a row. In the last game against the Dallas Wings, they were competitive, but in the fourth quarter they were outscored by six points and that led to a four point loss. WNBA Friday Night Atlanta Dream vs Minnesota Lynx While the WNBA is continuing its season inside the "wubble," social and racial injustice issues remain in focus for the league - especially the Minnesota Lynx and Atlanta Dream. After the league boycotted games this week, the Lynx and Dream are slated to return to the court and meet for the second time over a six-day span on Friday night at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. In the wake of the police shooting involving 29-year-old Jacob Blake from Kenosha, Wis., and the unrest and violence that followed in the city, the WNBA joined the NBA, plus teams from MLS and Major League Baseball in boycotting games on Wednesday and Thursday.
