WNBA Phoenix Mercury vs Washington Mystics

WNBA Tuesday Night Phoenix Mercury vs Washington Mystics The Mercury were expected to be a top-4 team, at best, and compete for a championship come playoff time. The playoffs are here and they had to settle for a No. 5 seed. Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith have stepped up big-time, however, since the losses of Brittney Griner (personal) and Bria Hartley (injury) to give the team momentum. Taurasi’s best scoring performance this season came against the Mystics on Aug. 23. Her veteran savvy is the biggest advantage Phoenix has and it really could make a big impact on the outcome of the contest. However, that the talent drops off after Taurasi and Diggins-Smith is a weakness of the Mercury’s offense. LIVE STREAM

WNBA Atlanta Dream vs Washington Mystics

WNBA Sunday Night Atlanta Dream vs Washington Mystics The Mystics are a step closer to clinching the final playoff spot after beating the New York Liberty Saturday afternoon. Atlanta is already eliminated from playoff contention and if the Mystics beat them and/or the Dallas Wings lose to the Liberty on Sunday they can clinch the 8th playoff spot. Sunday’s game was originally supposed to be played on Aug. 26. However, the Mystics and the Atlanta Dream decided to not play following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Wisconsin police officer. The Mystics did not feel it was right to play, according to ESPN’s Holly Rowe. It led to the rest of the teams expected to play that night to follow suit. There was no league play the following day either. “This is not a strike,” Nneka Ogwumike said in statement from the WNBA players. “This is not a boycott. This is affirmatively a day of reflection.” LIVE STREAM

WNBA Los Angeles Sparks vs Washington Mystics

WNBA Thursday Night Los Angeles Sparks vs Washington Mystics Washington’s time in the Bubble is coming to an end. With only three games left the Mystics are looking to end a rough-season with a few more wins. Washington is coming off a 3-points win against a dominant Lynx squad. What’s even more impressive is that they were able to outscore Minnesota in three quarters with only eight players. Myisha Hines-Allen went off with 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Emma Meesseman and Ariel Atkins followed with 18 points each. The last time they played the Sparks was Aug. 13, where they lost 64-81. The Mystics were led by Ariel Atkins with 20 points. Emma Meesseman and Myisha Hines-Allen added 12 and 10 points respectively. The trio were the only players to score in double-figures. For Los Angeles, no particular player that had a big game but there were five players that managed to score in double-figures, which made all the difference. Riquna Williams led the Sparks with 13 point...

WNBA Washington Mystics vs Minnesota Lynx

WNBA Tuesday Night Washington Mystics vs Minnesota Lynx The Mystics only scored 48 points in their first matchup against Minnesota on Aug. 11, which to no surprise resulted in a big loss. Washington struggled shooting, going 29.5 percent from the field. They only made 18-61 of their field goal attempts. They did even worse from downtown, finishing with 21.1 percent. It was Washington’s worst game offensively this season and if their Tuesday matchup looks anything like their August one, they are doomed. The Lynx will be without Sylvia Fowles this time around. The center is out indefinitely with a calf strain. In her team’s August matchup she put up 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Fowles and Napheesa Collier combined for 42 total rebounds that game. Prior to her injury, she was averaging 14.6 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. LIVE STREAM

WNBA Washington Mystics vs Dallas Wings

WNBA Sunday Night Washington Mystics vs Dallas Wings After the Mystics started the season with a 3-0 burst, the Chicago Sky brought them down to Earth. A month later – and 12 losses in Washington’s next 13 games – it is a win over the same Sky that could ignite a Washington run to the playoffs. Washington limited the fourth-best offense in the WNBA to only 71 points when they played the Seattle Storm last week. It was the Storm's lowest total since the Mystics defeated them in July.  LIVE STREAM

WNBA Washington Mystics vs Chicago Sky

WNBA Friday Night Washington Mystics vs Chicago Sky The Mystics and Sky are meeting for the second time in the Bubble. In their first matchup on the season back in August, the Sky won in a close 88-96 game. Ariel Atkins and Aerial Powers led the charge with 24 and 20 points respectively. Chicago had 5 players score in double-digits and were able to outscore Washington in three quarters. This matchup will be a bit different as the Mystics are without Powers due to season-ending hamstring injury and without Essence Carson and Shey Peddy due to roster changes. They had added Alecia Sutton and Jacki Gemelos since their last matchup. Chicago will be without Diamond DeShields because she is not currently in the Bubble. It is unclear when and if she will be back for the game or even the season. Prior to her departure DeShields was having the worst season of her career, averaging 6.8 points. Last season, she averaged 16.2 points per game. The Mystics have lost their last five games ...

WNBA Seattle Storm vs Washington Mystics

WNBA Wednesday Night Seattle Storm vs Washington Mystics The Mystics and Storm are matching up for the second time this season. The last time they played was at the beginning of the season when Washington started off stronger than most anticipated. In just their second game of the season, the Mystics secured an 89-71 win after outscoring the Storm in the first three quarters. Ariel Atkins led with 22 points while Myisha Hines-Allen added 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Mystics has 4 players in double-figures while Seattle surprisingly only had 2. This time around, Washington will be without Aerial Powers who is out the rest of the season with a hamstring injury. Seattle has three players who are scoring in double-figures this season. Breanna Stewart is averaging 19.8 points per game while Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird are putting up 13.9 and 10.1 points per game respectively. It is unclear if Bird will play Wednesday night. WNBA Washington Mystics vs Connecticut Sun

WNBA Sunday Night Washington Mystics vs Connecticut Sun The Mystics and Sun are meeting for the second time this season. In their first matchup on Jul. 28, Washington pulled off a 94-89 win. Aerial Powers, who is now out for the season with a hamstring injury, led her team with a solid 27-point game. Myisha Hines-Allen and Ariel Atkins added 16 points each. For the Sun, DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas scored 29 and 28 points respectively. Even on the boards they were dominant, combing for 20. Not having Aerial Powers in the matchup will make a big difference, especially as Stella Johnson is out with an ankle injury and Emma Meesseman, who missed three games with a shoulder injury before returning, only put up 3 points in her 26 minutes on the floor in the Mystics’ Friday night game against the Mercury. In her comeback game, Meesseman struggled offensively, going 1-10 from the field and 1-4 from beyond the arc. She might need some time to re-adjust and produce for the Mystic...

WNBA Phoenix Mercury vs Washington Mystics

WBNA Friday Night Phoenix Mercury vs Washington Mystics After a day of reflection to renew their commitments to social justice causes, both the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury return to action Friday night in a game critical to both teams' postseason chances. In a normal season, this game would be a marquee matchup pitting Elena Delle Donne and the defending champion Mystics (4-9) versus WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi and the Mercury (7-7). But this season has been anything but normal, starting with life in the "wubble," and the absence of Delle Donne as she recovers from offseason back surgery. And both of those facts have taken a back seat to the on-going commitment -- at the league, team, and player levels -- to raise attention to social injustice. Justice for Breonna Taylor has been at the forefront of nearly every conversation among WNBA players on this subject, and the recent fatal shooting of Jacob Blake intensified that spotlight yet a...
